Ron L. Bakeberg, age 60, of Woodbury, passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, surrounded by his family, after a long, courageous bout with cancer.
He was born Sept. 4, 1958, in Minneapolis, to Vern and Barbara (Kesphol), the oldest of six children.
Ron was raised on the family farm in Woodland Township, Wright County, and attended Country School, Section 8, for six years. He then attended Howard-Lake Waverly schools, where he graduated in 1977.
Following high school, Ron moved to the New Ulm area, where he met and married Tammy (Renner). They lived in Sleepy Eye for a number of years and welcomed three daughters, before the family moved to the St. Paul area.
Ron was known as a giant teddy bear who loved westerns and John Deere tractors. He was a craftsman, and his most recent wood working projects were for the children’s ministry at his church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vern Bakeberg; father-in-law Paul Renner; mother-in-law Janet Renner Stadick; and brother-in-law David Schliep.
Ron is survived by his wife, Tammy; daughters Amanda (James) Otero, Angela (Brandon) McQuinn, and Amber Bakeberg; grandchildren Dakota, Dominic, and Chloe; his mother, Barbara Bakeberg; siblings Donna Bakeberg, Robert (Gale), Ralph (Patty), Denise Schliep, and Rande (Kim); and many nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Monday, Feb. 11 at Transfiguration Catholic Church with Father John Paul Erikson and Deacon Ralph Bakeberg officiating. Interment followed Wednesday, Feb. 13 in New Ulm.
