Jerome F. Grack, 70

Jerome Fred Grack, age 70, of New Auburn, MN, formerly of Lester Prairie, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, at Glencoe Regional Health Services.

He was born July 5, 1948, in Arlington, the son of Albert Otto and Esther (Frauendienst) Grack. Jerome was baptized as an infant Aug. 8, 1948, by the Rev. Alfred Streufert; and was confirmed in his faith as a youth April 15, 1962, by the Rev. Arnold Fellwock, both at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe.

He received his education through the eighth grade at country and Lutheran school in Glencoe.

Jerome made his home in Glencoe, Lester Prairie, and New Auburn. He was blessed with five children: Fred, Barbara, Amanda, Dawn, and Darrin; and three step sons, Robert, Theodore, and Thomas.

A self-employed mechanic and handyman, Jerome tinkered with everything, and was a jack of all trades who could fix anything. He enjoyed morning coffee with friends, taking a drive around town, the outdoors, attending rodeos in South Dakota, and going to tractor shows.

Jerome loved the time spent with family and friends.

He is survived by his life-long partner, Donna Elliott of New Auburn; children, Fred Grack and his fiancée, Maren Leghari of Glencoe, Barbara Anderson and her husband, Jason of Norwood Young America, Amanda Dvorak and her husband, Tim of Le Center, Dawn McCarthy and her husband, Mark of Lester Prairie, and Darrin Grack of Winsted; and step sons Robert Elliott and his wife, Lisa of Houston, TX, Theodore Elliott and his wife, Julie of Dallas, WI, and Thomas Elliott of Rockford.

Jerome is further survived by grandchildren Aaron Grack, Amber (Michael) Husemann, Anna Grack, Ashley Grack, Tyler Anderson, Amelia Anderson, Austin Dvorak, Piper Dvorak, Collyn Catlin, Marshall McCarthy, Brayden McCarthy, Dennis McCarthy, and Parker McCarthy; great-grandchildren Janie Grack, Victoria Husemann, and Athena Jacobson; an aunt, Marian Frauendienst of New Auburn; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Esther Grack; and a brother, Erland Grack and his wife, Eleanor.

A funeral service took place Saturday, Jan. 26 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Auburn, followed by interment at High Island Cemetery in New Auburn. Pastor Larry Glaeske officiated at the service, and Kara Scholla was the organist. A duet was performed by Amber Husemann and Anna Grack, “I Can Only Imagine.” Congregational hymns were “How Great Thou Art,” and “Rock Of Ages.”

Casket bearers were Tom Elliott, T.J. Elliott, Aaron Grack, Mike Husemann, Joel Grack, and Vernon Grack.

Jerome’s grandchildren, Aaron Grack, Amber Husemann, Anna Grack, Ashley Grack, Tyler Anderson, Amelia Anderson, Austin Dvorak, Piper Dvorak, Collyn Catlin, Marshall McCarthy, Brayden McCarthy, Dennis McCarthy, and Parker McCarthy, were honorary casket bearers.
