Lena was born Sept 6, 1920, in Franklin Township, Delano, to George and Ida (Hoese) Lindner.

She graduated July 7, 1934, from the Carver County Elementary School of Minnesota.

Lena married Edward Heldt in September 1940, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia. Her son, David was born July 7, 1941.

Lena and Edward resided in Watertown for 25 years, enjoying a life of farming. Lena kept busy on the farm, or anywhere she could lend a hand. When she wasn’t milking cows or harvesting crops, she was a nurse’s aid at Ridgeview Hospital in Waconia.

Lena continued her career as a nurse’s aid for 35 years, and truly enjoyed working at Ridgeview Hospital.

Her favorite pastimes included working in her yard and gardening. Over the years, she also enjoyed painting ceramics and crocheting.

After an unfortunate event, Edward Heldt passed away. Lena then met John Haugen and they married. Together, Lena and John enjoyed finding new antiques and restoring many that they found. With John’s craftsman skills and Lena’s love of antiques they created beautiful doll houses, treasurable works of art, and other wood working projects for their grandkids to enjoy.

Lena’s spirt lives on through; her son, David (MaryAnn) Heldt; grandchildren Todd (Dana) Heldt, Jodene (Stephen) Penegor, and Nathan (Tricia) Heldt; great-grandchildren Meghan Heldt, Matthew Heldt, Lexy Heldt, Logan Penegor, Lyndsey Penegor, Lucas Penegor, William Heldt, and Brayden Heldt; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Edward Heldt and John Haugen; parents George and Ida (Hoese) Lindner; siblings Clarence (Hattie) Lindner, Raleigh (Martha) Lindner, and Audrey (Stan) Alridge; brother-in-law William Neumann Jr; and great-grandchild, Samuel Heldt.
