Rodney C. Johnson Obituary – 3/26/2019


Rodney Carlton Johnson, age 79, of Minneapolis, died Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at the Redeemer Health and Rehab in Minneapolis.

He was born May 10, 1939, in Dassel, the son of Albin and Augusta Gunhilde (Anderson) Johnson. Rodney’s family moved to Oregon when he was young, and he completed his education while living in Oregon.

Rodney was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith.

He was employed as a hatchery worker in Oregon, and when he moved back to Minneapolis, Rodney had been employed as a maintenance worker at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Minneapolis.

Rodney liked to play guitar, and make whirlybird toys. He was talented and made many crafts over the years.

He was quiet and well-liked at Redeemer Health and Rehab.

Rodney is survived by a grand-niece and a grand-nephew; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Rueben and Robert Johnson; and his parents, Albin and Augusta Johnson.

A funeral service took place Tuesday, April 2 at 1:30 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Virgil Anderson officiated, and interment was at Swan Lake Cemetery in rural Dassel.
