Norville Luebke, 88

Norville A. Luebke, age 88, of Mayer passed away Tuesday June 25, 2019 at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

Funeral service will be Friday June 28 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer with Rev. Adam Gless officiating. Visitation was Thursday June 27 from 4-7 pm, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment is at the church cemetery.

Norville was born February 16, 1931 in Hollywood Twp. the son of Alfred and Meta (Braun) Luebke. He was baptized March 3, 1931 at St. John Lutheran Church Hollywood Twp., New Germany, by Rev. Ernst and confirmed in the faith April 2, 1944 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer by Rev. Schwandt.

On August 30, 1957, Norville was united in marriage to LaVonne Jennings at Salem Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.

Norville lived his life relating to faith, family, farm, and friends. He was proud of his family, attending many of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities.

Norville was a founding member of Lutheran High School, which he took great pride in. He was very involved in the building of the veterans’ memorial in Mayer.

Norville never met a stranger; he would strike up a conversation with anyone he was with. On the farm he was very organized, everything had its place.

Norville and LaVonne loved to travel to many different destinations. He went on a few mission trips that really brought him a lot of satisfaction. Norville liked to play cards and go fishing in his spare time.

Norville was preceded in death by his wife LaVonne Luebke; father and mother Alfred and Meta Luebke; father-in-law and mother-in-law William and Florence Jennings; sister-in-law Judy Stevens-Tesch; and brothers-in-law Paul Stevens, Gerald Tesch.

Norville is survived by his loving family: children and spouses Thomas and Jody Luebke of Mayer; Steven and Sherry Luebke of Fargo, ND; John Luebke of Charlotte, NC; Rebecca El Bakkal of Atlanta, GA; foster son Michael Hardel and special friend Debbie of Aurora, CO; grandchildren Lindsay and Wyatt Getten, Brady Luebke and fiancee Jamie Briski, Tanner Luebke, Melissa and Jacob Buesgens, Holly Luebke, Matthew Luebke; great-grandchildren Cooper, Carson, Lillia, William, Cole, Ashton, Ariya; step-grandchildren Raymond Pfeil, Jeanne Pfeil; step-great-grandchildren Jasmine, Hailey, Delainey, and Joseph; sister and brother-in-law Melba and Louis Honebrink of Mayer; sister-in-law and brother-in-law LaNae and Jim Elliott of Richfield; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Casket bearers are Melissa Buesgens, Lindsay Getten, Holly Luebke, Matthew Luebke, Brady Luebke, Tanner Luebke, and Michael Hardel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Mayer Lutheran High School or Zion Lutheran Church.
