Donald Louis Ranzau, age 79, of Hutchinson, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the church. Father Tony Stubeda will be the celebrant. Interment with military rites will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.

Donald was born July 23, 1939, in Litchfield, the son of Louis and Evangeline (Rannow) Ranzau.
He was raised in Biscay, and was a 1957 graduate of Glencoe High School.
Don was a proud Navy veteran, and was at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.
He was united in Holy Matrimony with Beatrice Urban April 11, 1961, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Silver Lake. They were blessed with three children, and raised them in the house that Don built.
Don was an accountant/plant manager at Hutchinson Manufacturing, Scherping Systems, and Millerbernd.
He was a member of the Silver Lake Ambulance Service for more than 20 years, a member of the Sportsman’s Club, and Silver Lake Lions, and was a trainer for the Silver Lake High School football team.
Don enjoyed dancing with Bea, gardening, keeping the lawn perfect, reading, biking, making sauerkraut, woodworking, hunting and fishing, and making trips to Wyoming and Montana. Family was also an important part of Don’s life, and he was especially proud of his granddaughters.
Don was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who will be deeply missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Evangeline Ranzau; a daughter, Gwen Campbell; and a granddaughter, Madeline Campbell.
Don is survived by his wife, Bea Ranzau; son, DuWayne Ranzau; daughter, Deb (Bob) Stolt; son-in-law, Chris Campbell; granddaughters Haley Stolt and Lauren Stolt; and many other loving family and friends.
