Gertrude ‘Trudy’ Remer, 74

Gertrude C. “Trudy” Remer, age 74, of Winsted passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

She was born Dec. 2, 1944, in Watertown, the daughter of Alfons J. and Isabelle M. (Habisch) Wiemiller.

Trudy married Charles J. Remer Oct. 27, 1962. God blessed their marriage with five children.

Family was so important to Trudy! She enjoyed traveling, gardening, canning and Christmas. Through the years, Trudy babysat many children. She also volunteered at The Worn a Bit shop and at Winstock.

She was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.

Trudy is survived by her loving husband, Charles J. “Chuck” Remer; children: Lori (Dave) Gailey, Joe (Wendy) Remer, Craig (Shari) Remer all of Winsted, Vicki (Mike) Thonvold of Cokato, and Dean (Kristin) Remer of Woodbury; 13 grandchildren; siblings Tom (Mary) Wiemiller, LaMae Engel, all of Winsted, and Jack (Mary) Wiemiller of Maricopa, AZ; other relatives, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfons J. and Isabelle M. (Habisch) Wiemiller.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Monday, Jan. 7 at noon at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, with Father Tony Stubeda as the celebrant. Lavon Kielkucki was the organist for the Mass. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.

There was visitation Sunday, Jan. 6 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, with a CCW rosary at 5:30 p.m., and parish prayers at 6 p.m. Visitation continued Monday at the church, one hour prior to the Mass

Casket bearers were Jared Gailey, Joshua Remer, Justin Remer, Matthew Remer, Chad Engel, and David Wiemiller.

Ryan Gailey was an honorary casket bearer.
