Sidney L. Roepke, 56

Sidney L. Roepke, age 56, of Lester Prairie, passed away Monday, April 1, 2019, at his home.

His funeral service will be Friday, April 5 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany (510 East Broadway) with the Rev. LeRoy LaPlant officiating. Interment will be at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery in New Germany.

There was visitation at the church Thursday, April 4 from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday, one hour prior to the service.

Serving as casket bearers are Roger Pavek, Spenser Stender, Brad Roepke, Jacob Raether, Joel Kusske, and Corey Hennessey.

Sid was born Feb. 3, 1963, in Watertown, the son of Norville and Arlene (Denbrook) Roepke. He was baptized Feb. 17, 1963, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany by the Rev. Henry Weseloh; and confirmed April 3, 1977, at the same church by the Rev. Walter Schultz.

Sid enjoyed playing cards, dart ball, cribbage and pull tabs.

He served on the New Germany Fire Department for 14 years, which he really enjoyed.

Sid was an avid fisherman, and liked to go hunting whenever it was possible. One thing that he absolutely appreciated, was an ice cold Diet Coke.

He was preceded in death by his father, Norville C. Roepke; and brother and sister-in-law Robert and Annie Roepke.

Sid is survived by his loving family: daughter Stephanie (Jason) Schmidt of New Germany; son Kevin (Ariel) Roepke of Mayer; granddaughter Mya Schmidt; mother Arlene Roepke of New Germany; brother Dale Roepke of New Germany; sister Katie (Kyle) Raether of Chaska; nieces and nephews Angie (Jake) Pawelk, Bradley (Ashley) Roepke, Carla (Joe) Maas, Jacob Raether, Hailey Raether; great-nieces and nephew Erica, Lucas, Ava and Emily; and other relatives and friends.
