Later in his life, Dale moved to Gloria Dei Manor in Litchfield. Finally, when his health was failing, he moved to Meeker Manor.

He had a talent for fixing broken items, and enjoyed tinkering and fixing items for other people. He especially had a knack for repairing vacuum cleaners.

Dale enjoyed cooking and would bring bread pudding for holidays and family functions.

He is survived by his siblings, Bob Straub of Sauk Centre, Bill Straub, Donna (Jim) Klein, all of Dassel; and many nieces and nephews.
