Kevin D. Mahlstedt, 62, of Farmington, passed away March 29, 2021.
Kevin graduated from Howard Lake High School, and attended Mankato State University. Kevin, above all, was a loving father to Brent (Amanda) and Melissa, a cherished partner of Lynn Johnson (Lynnie), soon-to-be sweet grandpa to Baby Mahlstedt, and best pal ever to family dogs Toby, Brutus, and Bailey.
Kevin filled his too-short life with laughter, love, a special connection with any animal, and an appreciation for nature and the outdoors.
He was devoted to his many friends - some of whom he had shared adventures with for decades. Kevin had a deep passion for preserving the environment, and appreciating the beauty of nature.
Kevin was skilled in the art of repairing anything broken, and enjoyed tinkering on projects to give new life to things past their prime.
Kevin was privileged to spend his 35 year career caring for his beloved parks for the City of Bloomington.
His subtle and witty humor will live on through everyone who was fortunate to love and know him.
He leaves loved ones, friends, and family, who will forever be touched by his loyal and giving heart.
His family includes, Melissa, Brent, Amanda, Baby Mahlstedt, Lynnie, Toby, Bailey, Brutus, sister Barb (Lowell) Mikkelson, brother Larry (Vivian), much-loved nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Kevin was preceded in death by his sister Sandy, brother Wayne, mother Ethel, and father Walter.
A memorial celebration will take place at Moir Park Sunday, August 15. Family will provide additional details at a later date.
Kevin’s family suggests the Humane Society, or Friends of the Boundary Waters, to those wishing to honor Kevin with a memorial.
