Tamara Elizabeth (Vergin) Schellenberg, “Tammy,” 53, of Rockford passed away in her sleep Saturday, March 27, 2021.
She was born Jan. 2, 1968, to Lloyd and Elizabeth (Mitchell) Vergin in Buffalo.
Tammy was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She graduated from Rockford High School in 1986, and made her career as a care attendant working in nursing homes.
She loved to care for people, especially family members. Tammy loved to fish. She was an accomplished cook, and found joy in making things for family. She was so loved, and will be missed.
Tammy was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Vergin.
She is survived by her children: Jennifer Schellenberg, Jaclyn Hemingsen, and Mark Schellenberg; grandchildren Duncan and Blake; mother Elizabeth Vergin; siblings Valerie (Jerry) Weyer, Vance (Laurie) Vergin, Reinhold (Sharon) Vergin, Jeff (Shelley) Vergin, Veronica (Steve) Olson, Vicky (Dave) Knecht, Sandy (Travis) Kramer, Cheri (Darryl) Gullickson, and Stacie (Jeff) Beyer; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will take place Friday, April 9, at 11 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, St. Peter campus, in Delano. Inurnment will take place immediately following the service in Elmwood Cemetery in Rockford. The family will be assisted by Iten Funeral Home, of Delano.
