Karin Turnbull Woodson, age 83, died in San Diego, CA, Feb. 13, 2021, in the presence of her husband and children.
Karin was born Jan. 12, 1938, in Blackpool, England to Ralph and Anne (Lundin) Turnbull. Her mother was from Dassel, and they returned to the US in 1939. Though growing up in several places in the US and Canada, she always returned to Dassel every year.
After her marriage, she moved to San Diego, but spent summers south of Dassel, first in a cabin on Lake Jennie, and most recently at the family farmhouse near Wolf Lake.
Karin loved decorating, music, reading, watching baseball, and looking for antiques.
She was an elementary school secretary for many years in San Diego, and was active in her church, serving in the choir at College Avenue Baptist for decades.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gael Turnbull; and sister, Esther “Tess” Henry.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John Woodson; their children, James (Robyn), Anne (Ira Gershow), and Peter (Jennifer); nine grandchildren; brother, J. Stuart (Sharon) Turnbull; and numerous nieces, and nephews.
The burial and funeral service will take place at the Collinwood Township Pioneer Church and Cemetery sometime this summer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are preferred to Dassel Evangelical Covenant Church or the Pioneer Cemetery Association (C/O Bernelle Hansen, PO Box 249, Cokato, MN 55324).
