Darlene Carlson, 82

Darlene Ruth (Lundquist) Carlson, age 82, of Minnetonka, died Thursday, June 2, 2022, at the North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.

A celebration of Darlene’s life will take place at a later date. There will be a private interment at the Dassel Community Cemetery.

The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Darlene Ruth (Lundquist) Carlson, the daughter of Ruth Viola (Jacobson) and Axel Elwood Lundquist, was born January 22, 1940, in Thief River Falls, MN.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and was a longtime member of Chrystal Evangelical Free Church of New Hope, and had been attending Wooddale Church in Eden Prairie.

She also attended a presbyterian church in Naples, Florida.

Darlene graduated from Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis and then continued her education at the University of Minnesota, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics.

 Upon graduation, Darlene taught from 1961 to 1962 at Wadena High School.

She continued teaching as a substitute teacher in the Robbinsdale School District.

June 30, 1962, Darlene was united in marriage to Dr. Kenneth Leonard Carlson, DDS.

Together they made their home in Golden Valley, where they raised their three daughters. Then, they moved to Minnetonka, where they have since resided.

Darlene loved spending time with her family for holidays and special events.

Her family was the love of her life, and the happiest moments were the time that she could get her whole family together to celebrate or just enjoy life.

She was talented in sewing, cooking, baking, knitting, crocheting, and needlework. She enjoyed entertaining friends and family, traveling, taking cruises, or just enjoying the sights as they traveled.

She was the best friend to many and a trusted confidant. She loved her precious dog, Annie.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Kenneth L. Carlson DDS, three daughters; Carmen Elizabeth (Mark) DeSimone, Leanne Carlson (Michael) Goth, and Susan Jane (Bradley) Trelstad, and six grandchildren; James (Kelsey) Goth, Johnny Goth, Matthew DeSimone, Thomas Trelstad, Luke DeSimone, and Lillian Trelstad.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Axel Elwood and Ruth Viola Lundquist.
