HLWW hosts 60th annual FFA chapter banquet



The Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted FFA hosted its 60th annual chapter banquet on May 10. More than 200 members, parents, and guests gathered for a dinner and ceremony to celebrate this year’s achievements.

Awards were presented to members at the chapter, region, and state levels for their achievements in career development events (CDEs) and leadership development events (LDEs), degrees, proficiency awards, and more.

The HLWW FFA chapter ranked in the top 10 in the state for the National Chapter Award, Superior Chapter Land of Service Award, and Ag Literacy Award.

Special awards were presented to the following:

  • Brian Yager, along with Luke and Crystal Long, received an honorary chapter FFA degree as a token for their support shown throughout past years.
  • The Star Greenhand Award went to Tanner Glessing, and the Outstanding Freshman Award went to Adam Marquardt.
  • The Chapter Star in Production Placement went to Wyatt Glessing.
  • The HLWW FFA Alumni presented Greenhand Rings to the following freshmen: Tanner Glessing, Landon Barlau, and

Adam Marquardt. These financial awards will be used to establish their entrepreneurial supervised agricultural experience projects.

Advisors James Weninger and Seena Glessing announced the 2024 -25 chapter officer team to end the night.

The chapter officers for the following year are:

  • Officer at large: Tori Thorson.
  • Sentinel: Oliver Anderson.
  • Secretary: Calvin Dial.
  • Treasurer: Mason Glessing.
  • Reporter: Ellie Swart.
  • Vice-president: Chloe Kieser.
  • President: Grace Bayerl.
